FINALLY FALL
I know … it’s been a while since the last up date, but it’s been pretty quite. We did take our hay to a county wide “hay contest” and took a blue ribbon… 7th out of 40….not bad. For those of you that know or understand, our hay tested 14.9% protein which is as good as you want. We baled 23 the first cutting, 30 the second and 13 the third…not bad for 15 acres.
The last post I talked about my good horse “Trigger” having the torn ligament in his foot. As of this writing, he is not sound after 5 months of confined rest and treatments. He is going in next week for stem cell treatments. We are praying that will work as the next step is nerving that area(cutting a nerve). This is a last resort. Thank God for equine insurance!
I titeld this post “finally fall” but as of now, we really haven’t had much of a fall. It has been 10 degrees above normal, but I’m sure that will change soon. The leaves are changing and falling no matter what the temperature is. The colt I spoke about before that we fostered is now 5 months old and really big. We took his mother back to her owners last week and that was hard to do. At least we have the pleasure of knowing we gave her a wonderful life for 4 months and she went back very fat and happy. The colt is ours and we named him Pistol. It looks like he will be a bay and a handsome one.
We hope everyone has a wonderful fall and a great Thanksgiving!
Happy Trails….Kilroy and Liz
